From November 11th to November 15th, 2013, in Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul/Brazil, there will be happening the Brazil In-service Training, coordinated by the American Facilitators Bobby Robinson and Leonard Moudy, from D.A.R.E. International, and the Brazilian PROERD facilitator team from the seven D.A.R.E./Proerd Training Centers in Brazil. It is a partnership among the National Department of Public Safety, the State Department of Justice and Human Rights of Rio Grande do Sul, Brigada Militar (the state Police force of Rio Grande do Sul) and the State Police Force of Minas Gerais. The main purpose of the training is to update all Brazilian Mentor Officers in the new elementary curriculum called “Keeping it… REAL”. This new methodology develops social emotional skills so that the students think about situations in their lives and are able to take decisions to improve the quality of their lives free from drugs and violence.

This action celebrates the 15 years of Proerd in Rio Grande do Sul, which is reaching 1 million students benefited by the program at the end of this year. A seminar will also take place in Porto Alegre from Nov. 20th to Nov. 22th, in which about 470 PROERD Officers from Rio Grande do Sul will be updated in the new methodology.
